Non-complaint Celiacs

Celiac Disease was in the local media this week, in the form of a Lifestyles article in the Salmon Arm Observer.

It appeared in the January 19th edition under the title “Helping Partners With Change“.

The article’s author grew up with a non-compliant Celiac father.  She has a number of suggestions for anyone in a similar circumstance.

• Accept that you cannot change your loved one’s behavior.

• Encourage but don’t push.

• Stay positive.

• Be creative.

• Resist the urge to micromanage.

• Avoid making comments, discouraging looks or silent treatments.
