The Vancouver Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association has passed the Nominations and 1st Judging Stage of a contest being run by RiceWorks – the branch of Snack Alliance that produces Gourmet Brown Rice Crisps that are gluten free, nutritional and come in fascinating and fun flavours such as Sweet Chilli, Sea Salt, Parmesan, and Salsa Fresca just to name a few! We are in the running for a prize up to $20,000 and you can help us!
Out of about 575 charities submitted in Nomination Phase of the “Show us your Goodness” on-line contest with over 2800 votes cast for all those deserving organizations, 33 charities have been chosen by the Independent Judges for the Semi-Finalist winners and these charities have now entered the Voting Phase which is where you come in!
The Vancouver Chapter and its supporters got us this far by nominating us as a “Cause That Inspires Them The Most” and now this becomes a National mission – to get tons of votes for the Vancouver Chapter so that the independent Judging Panel can see how many people are behind the Celiac Disease movement! At the end of the voting period, on April 30th, 2010, the Judging Panel will decide which Charity is deserving of the Grand Prize of $20,000, the two Final Prizes of $5,000 each or one of the 30 “Sponsors Choice” prizes of $1,000 each. Total amount to be given away in this contest by RiceWorks/Snack Alliance is $60,000!
Many thanks to Lorraine D, a great supporter of the Vancouver Chapter who put in the first nomination and got the ball rolling, if the Chapter is selected as the Grand Prize winner Lorraine will receive $100.00 in RiceWorks products! Lorraine graciously bakes and supports 6 Celiacs in her family along with providing many samples to others so she would really benefit receiving this prize as a reward!

We will do our best in Vancouver to make the best use of this money for Celiac Awareness. We were able to get a government grant last year that enabled us to do a Restaurant Awareness Survey which we will publish the results of at the Western Restaurant Food Expo being held in Vancouver at the end of April, 2010. This was a big step for us financially to accomplish and we hope that we can continue this type of work in the future!
Let’s get out and VOTE now! Remember #8 – Canadian Celiac Association – Vancouver Chapter!
