Winfield Thai restaurant not gluten-free

Update:  My apologies – a call to this restaurant returned after this article was posted that they are not aware of Celiac Disease or the need for gluten-free.  I guess this is a good lesson that we must check whenever we go out.

Winfield now has a Thai restaurant. It’s called Chantana’s and it’s inside the Lakewood Mall (where Tim Horton’s is). The official address is 17-11852 Highway 97, Winfield, BC V4V 1E3 and phone number is 250-766-6660

Their hours are Monday to Saturday for lunch 11 am – 2 pm and for supper 5 pm – 9 pm. They are closed Sundays.

According to one reviewer, “It’s a weird location and reno’s are on-going. It’s tiny, only seating 15 people. This place will not remain hidden for long judging by the food. It was really good. I am definitely going back. Prices were very reasonable too – most lunch dishes were around $8 – $10 for big portions. Not sure if they’ have a liquor license. The owner apparently used to be the head cook at Mon Thong at one time. Very yummy. They do take-out too. I wish them well but I don’t think they’re going to need my wishes – if today’s lunch was any indication she’ll do well.”

Another reviewer said “It’s pretty much a weird little 15 seater restaurant with no ambiance… I think we need to give this place time to find its roots. I phoned in a take-out lunch the other day – it was very fresh and very good.”
