This next meeting will be an open discussion one. please bring your ideas and restaurant notes. We will be asking for volunteers for various things – if we plan to continue we will need others to commit to taking some responsibility. If you can’t make it to the meeting but can help with planning, advertising, organizing or talking to restaurants, please let us know. Let us know if there are preferred days for meetings as well. if you do not want to be included on this year’s email list, just tells us.
November 1 – Update to above from Jane
We’ll be talking about various things including volunteering to help organize, future meeting days, restaurants, food (of course) and other health issues. this group is open to anyone interested in not just celiac issues but wheat allergies – you needn’t be officially diagnosed with CD to attend.
Nell would like to discuss the possibility of a cookie and baked goods exchange before Christmas… Each person brings 3-4 dozen GF goodies, packaged in 1/2 dozens, which were all placed on a table. Then participants take turns choosing 2 packages at a time until all goodies are taken; this allows for a good variety. This could easily be done in the meeting room.
Don commented about Dr. Gill’s recommended medication which apparently counteracts glucose: protease enzyme. Has anyone bought it and tried it? Let’s discuss results. Nell added: there’s a product called something like “gluten defense” available from The Vitamin Shop in Victoria; the price is much cheaper than what Dr. Gill sells. go to www.canadianvitaminshop.com for more info.
If you can’t make the meeting and would like to comment on these item – email me before Sunday and I’ll bring your concerns to the meeting. Jane
