Best of the season to you and your family!
During the festive season I am reminded of those who have played a key role in my life. Since being diagnosed with celiac disease, I count the Canadian Celiac Association among them! With their help, and the support of family and friends, I can enjoy festive gluten-free meals at this time of the year and good health all the time.
My diagnosis was the best gift that I ever received!
Over 300,000 Canadians have celiac disease yet 90 % remain undiagnosed. They risk premature death and suffering from many preventable complications such as osteoporosis, infertility and certain cancers. Like me, they will wait an average of 12 years for a correct diagnosis. Again like me, they will actually get better once they are diagnosed, and follow the GF diet and the advice of the CCA.
I’m asking you to consider a donation to the CCA this year to make sure that others can receive the same valued gift that you and I did. What will we do with your donation? We will:
- Raise awareness in the medical community about the need for early diagnosis
- Advocate for safe food and food labeling,
- Educate the food service sector and food industry
- Fund basic research, looking for connections between celiac disease and other conditions as well as for alternative treatments…
