Just because we have not been meeting does not mean that we have been sitting idle. Our members have been counseling new members on how to coup with the gluten-free diet. Many of us have been busy writing letters to our MP’s to make sure that they were aware of how we felt about the new labeling regulation and how important they are to us.
Jim McCarthy and Janet Dalziel on behalf of the CCA were very instrumental in getting these regulations passed after 10 years of hard work. With the help of our members they finally listened. Good on us.
At our meeting in March we were working on our conference in Kelowna in 2012. We are looking for volunteers to serve on many different committees and to help in any way they can. Many hands make light work. Please think of what you might want to get involved in.
Membership: Kathy Post has had to resign from her position as membership coordinator. Thank-you Kathy, for all your hard work.
I want to welcome Moyra Baxter as our new membership coordinator. Thank-you so much, for stepping forward and taking on this position.
I have been spending some time while in Kelowna visiting with George Arthur who resides in The Chatsworth Retirement suites. I have had two lunch dates with George and his friends Dorothy and I must say that this facility has the gluten-free issue figured out. The soup was great and very tasty as was the sandwich. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. More facilities are becoming aware of our need for a gluten-free diet.
Keep up the good work every little bit of information helps our cause and keeps us safe when we eat out.
