From 9:00 am–5:00 pm, the event featured the following experts:
• Gluten-Free Guides by Choices’ Chef Anionlo Cerullo and Dietitian Nicole Fetterly, RD
• Naturopathic Treatments for Celiac Disease and Wheat Sensitivity by Dr. Balow, ND
• Dr. Hugh Freeman, MD, Gastroenterologist, Researcher & Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia.
According to Maire Ablett there were at least 10 stations set-up with various gluten-free foods. All the demos were well staffed and very helpful. Over all, the place was really busy!
Chapter volunteers, Jodie, Eleanore and Moyra were there all day. Moyra signed up four new members and answered many questions at the CCA table. They had info slips about our September chapter potluck meeting and the pizza party on the table.
According to Maire, “I visited all the stations and took in the cooking class. We even got to have a small glass of “Grist Mill” gluten-free beer, during the cooking sessions. What a treat!
It was all very informative. Nicole did a good job using the Choice’s cook book included in the gift bag, as a basis for the cooking demo.
Of course Nadene was great also, helping us all and making sure our volunteers were well looked after. The bags that we got contained about $30 worth of product and coupons! It was a very rewarding day.
I was so glad that I had made the time to go.”
