CBC Radio Panel: Are wheat-free diets a fad?

wheat-bellyAre wheat-free diets a fad?  That was the discussion on a February 7th radio panel on the CBC Radio One program “Q.”

On the panel was Dr. William Davis, author of the popular book Wheat Belly. Davis argues that wheat is a public health hazard.  Davis’ book has been a best seller and he’s winning lots of converts.

Also on the panel was Timothy Caulfield, Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy at the University of Alberta. He’s also the author of  The Cure For Everything: Untangling the Twisted Messages About Health, Fitness and Happiness. He represents the scientific community who remain skeptical about the benefits of a wheat-free diet with the exception of people with specific affiliations such as celiac disease.

It was a very interesting panel.  Worth a listen.
